Blepharoplasty
Also known as eyelid surgery, blepharoplasty is a procedure that’s performed to improve the appearance of aging eyes. It’s designed to remove excess skin from the upper eyelids and reduce bags along the lower eyelids. In addition to the cosmetic benefits, blepharoplasty can also improve your eyesight if sagging upper eyelids are interfering with your vision.
To perform this procedure, we will begin by creating a small incision along your eyelid margins, hidden within your natural creases. Through those openings, we will remove excess skin, fat and loose muscle to create a more lifted appearance. Once the surgery is complete, you can expect some swelling and bruising, though it should subside within a week or two.
Botox
For patients who are concerned with crow’s feet and general wrinkling around the eyes, but aren’t quite ready for surgery, BOTOX injections can be an ideal solution. They offer a terrific way to temporarily improve telltale signs of aging around the delicate eye area, creating a smoother and more youthful appearance.
During your appointment, we will ask you to contract your muscles so we can determine where to place the medication. From there, we will inject small amounts of botulinum toxin directly into the treatment area using a very thin needle. Since this is a non-surgical procedure, you will be free to resume your normal daily routine right away. However, you’ll need to avoid rubbing or massaging your eyes for at least 24 hours, as this can cause the medication to move to a different area on your face. In terms of results, you should see an improvement in your wrinkles within a couple of days. The effects should last for about three months, at which point you will require follow-up injections to maintain your new look.
Fillers
If you suffer from under-eye hollows and wrinkles that make you look tired even when you’re well rested, you may be experiencing age-related volume loss. This condition tends to develop in your mid-thirties, though it may appear even sooner if you’ve smoked, have fair skin or spent a lot of time in the sun. Fortunately, dermal fillers can temporarily restore the volume you’ve lost to the natural aging process.
Prior to undergoing treatment, you will need to schedule an appointment at our Los Angeles office. During that meeting, we will evaluate your volume loss and determine which dermal filler will best treat your specific signs of aging. The actual procedure will be performed on an outpatient basis. We will simply insert precise amounts of your chosen filler to plump the area and restore a more youthful appearance. You can expect very minimal pain, and most patients are able to resume their normal daily activities right away.
