Here’s the Story on Blue Light

Light is composed of non-visible and visible light. UV light is an example of non-visible light that is emitted from the sun. Visible light is made up of the light waves our eyes see as colors - violet, indigo, red, green, yellow, orange, and blue light. Blue light appears as a range of colors from blue-turquoise to blue-violet. Blue-violet light can be harmful to our eyes and can cause eyestrain and fatigue. Over-exposure to harmful blue light, especially outside in the sun and through constant use of electronic devices and screens, are reasons that protecting your vision has never been more important.

Transitions adaptive lenses help protect against harmful blue light both indoors and out, with style to spare. Indoors, Transitions® Signature® lenses filter 1.4x more harmful blue light than a basic clear lens. Outdoors, they reduce exposure to the sun's harsh glare, and filter more than eight times the harmful blue light than clear lenses.

Indoors, Transitions® XTRActive® Lenses filter at least two times more of the harmful blue light than clear lenses, and eight times more of the harmful blue light outdoors. Transitions® Vantage® Lenses filter at least two times more harmful blue light indoors than clear lenses, and over six times outdoors.
